“I am really inspired by the work of Beverly Bond. She is the founder of “ Black Girls Rock” and the “ Black Girls Rock awards”, a mentorship programme aimed at promoting self-worth and empowerment for young women. This is a huge passion for me, and although a relatively new journey, one which forms part of the motivation of why I wake up every morning.
There is not enough support to enable women to easily find their heads, feet, voice and spirit. The younger generations need to see more people who look like them so they can start to identify the wider scope of what can be achievable in this life, as a woman, especially a black woman because our struggle is unique. The larger the network of women across the globe joining hands to create the critical mass necessary to start shifting society, the easier this journey towards self-empowerment for young woman can be.” – Zanele Luvuno
